There has been a lot of activity going on in Greenwich lately preparing for the arrival of tall ships.
“I wonder how tall the ships are,” Bear wondered.
“Well we can go down and see some tonight, there’s supposed to be fireworks too, ” I said. Bear and Lion do love watching fireworks and told their friend, Longlegs Sillitoe, to come along.
Crowds of people were already gathered around when we got there and as we tried to squeezed past them Bear and Lion screamed “Shark!!” And there in the Naval College Gardens (and nowhere near the water) was a giant shark coming very fast towards us.
Just as it breezed past us Bear and Lion turned around and saw a big red fish chasing a big yellow fish.
“What’s going on here, are we underwater?” Bear asked. Lion wanted to know if he should go home to get his swimsuit.
We hurried away from this mad sight and went along the river path where people were already lining up waiting for the fireworks to begin.
And what a pretty sight they were!
“Those look just like stars, Girl Friend,” Lion said.
After the spectacular show the river came alive with tall ships passing by on their way to to Greenwich Peninsula. Don’t they look just like pirate ships?
The Thames had never looked so glorious.
